Our 2007 Holiday Blend is a smooth, classic Vienna Mélange with warming notes of spice, chocolate, and roasted nuts above a full, creamy body. Proceeds from this coffee benefit the extraordinary women of the 21st de Septiembre, who grew the heirloom coffee cultivars used in this extraordinary blend.
Our 2007 Holiday Blend features coffees from the extraordinary 21st de Septiembre cooperative. Based in the remote mountaintop community of Zaragoza in Oaxaca, Mexico, these extraordinary coffee farmers grow coffee in the most traditional way on small, family-run, organic farms.
For this holiday season, Counter Culture Coffee has chosen to revive an obscure technique of roasting and blending, called Vienna Mélange. Created in the coffee-loving city of Vienna generations ago, the mélange technique involves roasting the same coffee in a variety of ways, remixing the coffees after roasting to create a roast complexity unequaled by any other style. It's an old European technique, and creates a classic continental flavor experience in the cup.
